Best Show In A While
On Saturday night I saw The Front Bottoms and it was one of the best shows I’ve been to for many many reasons which I will recap in full in this post.
The first reason was not so much the show itself but the community part. My friend Ryan and Brandon (and now Ony) band Fk Mt opened up for The Front Bottoms and they asked me to run their merch table and as simple as that is, it was a big thing for me. When I started going to shows in high school I always thought it was really cool to do the behind the scenes stuff and work the tables or set up not even be in the band itself and achieving this and having all these friends around me in this music scene was a really fun and heartwarming experience.
The other reason was The Front Bottoms show itself. The crowd was a very young crowd (I’m only 20 and they made me feel old honestly) but they had so much energy that you couldn’t help but feel infectious. I got so caught up even that during Tattooed Tears at the part where he sings “I for one should not be held..” I jumped up as it started and was lifted up and crowd surfed while shouting that on the top of my lungs. The whole line resonates with me in my current life so it was really great for me. Then I crowd surfed briefly during The Feud but it was pretty brief and not noteworthy but fun.
Last reason was during Twin Sized Mattress at the climax of the song the singer invited us on stage to sing it (he made it all the way through but kicked us off pretty quick to replay that part due to people hitting wires and equipment) and I sung my heart out and it was a great experience I actually got some chills.
